2 Day Residential Art Course 
inside the stunning private grounds of  
Sheriff Hutton Castle 

Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th September 2022 

You will receive 

 

  • 2 days tutoring from award winning, local artist Patrick Smith inside the castle courtyard with access to the 600 year old Sounding Hall. (maximum 12 Students) 

  • 2 nights stay in accommodation inside the castle grounds

  • 2x picnic lunches  

  • 2 x 3 course evening meal   

  • 1 x Breakfast 

  • 2 canvas panels 14” x 18” 

All food prepared by a qualified chef.

Who is this aimed at? 

Patrick is experienced in tutoring all levels of abilities and skills. This thoroughly rewarding course will advance all your art skills whatever your starting point.

Duration of your workshop

This exclusive 2 full day course will be tutored from 10am to 4pm with 40 mins for lunch between your relaxed painting sessions with Patrick. Tea & coffee will be available. 

 

What happens if it rains?

There will be a stretch tent you can shelter in, with open sides so you will still have great views of the castle. You will also have access the 600 year old Sounding Hall.  

 

What to bring?

Whilst some very basic materials will be provided It is expected that attendees will bring their own paints and drawing sundries ie sketch books pens pencils etc some easels can be provided and for this workshop 2 canvas panels 14 x 18” will be supplied, one for each day and some pre prepared mount card for experimenting on. We will be predominantly working with Acrylics so artists are asked to come with good quality paints a basic level of such is Windsor and Newton Galleria, brushes pallet knives and a wet pallet ( baking paper wetted jays cloth and simple plastic tray or cheap baking tray). 

Patrick is fully conversant in all media so you can choose to use what medium you like, you will most certainly gain great experience and tuition from this outdoor event. 

Bring sensible shoes, the ground, although laid to lawn can be uneven. Warm and comfortable clothes, this is Yorkshire after all!

 

Parking

There is ample room to park the car on site just 200m from the castle. Parking available inside the castle for those less able.

 

Rendezvous 

9:30am Wednesday 14th September after a relaxed introduction and get together with tea and coffee the course will start at 10am.

 

Lunch

This wiil be a relaxed picnic style
